Round spa tubs are built using a large shell which forms the complete outside of the tub. During the initial construction process, this outer shell is bonded with the interior. The shell itself will be constructed using one of two different processes: vacuum forming or rotational molding. It is very important that the understructure is built solid as it will have the duty of holding hundreds of gallons of water not to mention the occupants themselves. It is usually made of fiberglass or some other kind of plastic. The design also includes a cabinet that acts as skirting around the tub.
When you are looking at the many different types of round spa tubs available, it is important to keep in mind that the insulation is crucial for making them energy efficient. This insulation may be created by various methods, such as by using foam to coat the entire inside, or just the underside of the cabinet. The biggest energy eaters in a hot tub are the water pump and the heater and just how much electricity they consume has to do with their size.
